Rosenborg boss keeps his Cool despite Nick loss

-

ROSENBORG striker Nicklas Bendtner looks certain to be out of their trip to Celtic tomorrow after picking up a thigh injury.

But manager Rini Coolen insists this Europa League clash will be completely different to their defeat in Glasgow in July in the Champions League qualifier – the last time the Norwegian side have suffered a defeat in any competition.

Bendtner was publicly backed by the Trondheim club last week after an altercation with a taxi driver in Copenhagen, which is now in the hands of the Danish police.

But he’s unlikely to travel to Glasgow after missing the weekend win against Valarenga with a thigh strain, while colleague Pal Andre Helland is also unlikely to recover from injury.

Coolen said: “I don’t think what happened with Nicklas affected us too much. He wasn’t available for the weekend match, but we did well without him.

“He is working very hard to get back fit again. Hopefully, he will return to training soon.

“We have many big games coming up and we need him for the rest of the season.

“The match against Celtic is completely different from the earlier tie. That was about trying to knock them out over two legs, while these games are all about picking up points.

“The last times we played them, they played 3-5-2 and then 4-3-3, so we need to be wary of that and adapt to it.

“But the most important thing is our style of play.

“To qualify, we need to win matches at home because that is where we are at our best. If we can collect points on the road, that is a bonus.”
