Gang is jailed over Breaking Bad-style drug lab found in van

-

A GANG snared after police discovered a Breaking Bad-style drugs lab have been jailed for a total of almost 20 years.

Detectives swooped at an industrial yard in Glasgow’s Dennistoun last December and found a Ford Transit kitted out to “adulterate and package drugs”.

Police went on to seize £1.7million of cannabis and cocaine in Operation Croupier.

Four men held after the raid were yesterday sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

Art dealer Robert Wright was jailed for eight years. The 55 year-old, of Milton, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of cannabis.

Brian McCulley, 39, of Baillieston, and Peter Ewing, 53, of Bridgeton, both Glasgow, each pleaded guilty to the same charge and were sentenced to three years and 32 months, respectively.

Terrence Connelly, 31, of Robroyston, was locked up for six years after he admitted cocaine dealing.

Wright was clocked driving a Mercedes into the yard before McCulley and Ewing turned up in a Ford Mondeo.

The trio stood chatting before McCulley and Ewing left. The pair were later held close to Lochwinnoch train station in Renfrewshire.

A total of 38kg of cannabis and cannabis resin was discovered in the Ford.

Wright – described as the “custodian” of the yard – was held later that day after he returned there.

Connelly, meantime was clocked driving another Mercedes into the site.

He was stopped at the entrance of a metal shipping container that had “traces of white powder” on its floor.

In the yard was a static trailer, five vans, including the Ford Transit, three containers and a skip.

Prosecutor Duncan McPhie said: “It appeared that the van was being used to adulterate and package controlled drugs.” MASTERCHEF winner Gary Maclean is serving up hope to hungry children all over the world with one of his most amazing dishes yet – a cheery porridge smile.

The National Chef of Scotland teamed up with the charity Mary’s Meals yesterday to celebrate World Porridge Day. Gary, who is also senior chef lecturer at the City of Glasgow College, said: “As someone working with food in education, the amazing work of Mary’s Meals is something that really resonates with me.

“I find it scary that in this day and age, there are children going hungry.”
