Clyde Gateway office park set to attract 12,000 jobs to city
A NEW Glasgow office park set to bring thousands of jobs to the city will open to investors today.
Clyde Gateway and partner Highbridge Properties is launching a satellite business district on the River Clyde as part of five Scottish projects included in the biggest investment prospectus of the Scottish Cities Alliance.
The alliance is a collaboration between the seven cities and the Scottish Government to promote Scotland’s economic potential worldwide.
The site, dubbed Magenta at Clyde Gateway, will feature 27 acres of office space, making it the largest development with planning consent of its kind in the country, and is expected to bring 12,000 jobs to the area.
The move marks the next step for the alliance scheme, which has seen a £1.5billion transformation of the area since it was set up in 2011.
After the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Athletes Village was transformed into 700 homes, while the nearby Dalmarnock train station received an £11million upgrade.
Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity Secretary Michael Matheson said: “By working collaboratively through the alliance, our seven cities have demonstrated over the past year they can be highly successful in attracting international investors to Scotland.
“The new alliance investment prospectus can only raise Scotland’s profile and build on that success, demonstrating once again the great investment potential Scotland’s cities can offer and their drive to succeed.”
Magenta will feature alongside the growing Inverness Campus, Edinburgh’s Bioquarter, Aberdeen’s Queen’s Square and the Dundee Waterfront project, which will be launched at a V&A event in Dundee this morning.
The investment opportunities of more than £10bn across the five sites will contribute to the alliance’s boost to Scotland’s economy by more than £125m since its inception seven years ago.
