Secret out... Victoria’s is here

- BY STACEY MULLEN

SHOPPERS braved the rain in Glasgow’s Style Mile to get a first look at Victoria’s Secret’s new flagship Scottish store.

The US lingerie giants have opened up on Buchanan Street, in a Buchanan Galleries unit once occupied by H&M.

They first revealed plans for a flagship store in Scotland in an application to Glasgow City Council last summer.

The plans were eventually approved in March and fitting work began over the summer.

Yesterday, hundreds of fans of the US brand queued outside the store to get access to special one-off discounts.

Victoria’s Secret first launched in Scotland by opening a small unit within Glasgow Airport but this new store marks their fully-fledged arrival in Scotland.

Victoria’s Secret’s appeal has grown thanks to its annual fashion show which employs some of the world’s best known models who act as “brand angels” to showcase the firm’s offerings.

A number of famous faces – including Gisele Bundchen, Helena Christensen, Tyra Banks, Kendall Jenner, Chanel Iman, Miranda Kerr and Adriana Lima – have worn angel wings for the brand.

The fashion show is shown in 180 countries and the retailer even has its own network television special for the event.

Victoria’s Secret was founded by Roy Raymond and his wife Gaye, in San Francisco, California, in 1977 and since then the brand gone on to become a global phenomenon.
