- BY AFTAB ALI

DETECTIVES have revisited the scene of a Glasgow shooting in Lilybank in the East End one week on as they try to piece together the sequence of events.

Officers are appealing once again for information following the attempted murder of a man in the Lilybank area, near Tollcross, on Tuesday, September 18.

In what officers believe was a targeted hit, two men got out of a black car at around 11pm and stormed into a property in Cuthelton Terrace, where they shot a 38-year-old in the back of the head.

The victim was taken to hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Shortly after the attack, at around 11.20pm, police received a report of a car crash involving one vehicle in Selby Gardens, Mount Vernon. Emergency services attended the scene and the male occupant of the car was taken to hospital.

While there is nothing to indicate the incidents are connected detectives said that a connection cannot be ruled out either.

Detective Inspector Gillian Faulds said: “The overall response from members of the public [at the time of incident] was positive and officers managed to speak to 18 pedestrians and motorists during the operation.

“Information from members of the public is absolutely vital to this investigation and I would urge anyone with even the slightest piece of information to come forward.

“These individuals discharged a firearm in a residential area, not only endangering the life of their target, but also potentially putting other members of the public at risk.

“They must be caught and held accountable for their actions.

“I would particularly appeal to any motorists with dash-cams who were in or around the Tollcross or Shettleston areas on the Tuesday night to get in touch in case they have captured any footage of significance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID officers at Govan Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 4200 of September 18, 2018.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
