A TEACHER at a Glasgow school is under investigation after posting a series of expletive-laden tweets.

They were aimed at high profile politicians. If found to be in breach of employee code of conduct, the teacher could face disciplinary action.

A GLASGOW teacher could be facing disciplinary action after posting a string of expletive-laden tweets directed at politicians.

John Cawley, who teaches English at Whitehill Secondary in Dennistoun, in the city’s East End, is under investigation for “inappropriate tweets” which breach employee code of conduct, education officials confirmed.

Mr Cawley, who describes himself as a ‘politics nerd’ and teacher on Twitter, tweeted politicians including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and the SNP’s Keith Brown and John Mason.

In one post related to Brexit and directed at Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard, he wrote: “The state of this delusional p*** Mitigate a f ****** disaster your pal is complicit in, Mason, Bastani, Milne, Corbyn and McDonnell et all can f*** off.”

In another post he refers to supporters of SNP MSP Keith Brown as “a ******** ”.

The tweets were sent to Maureen McKenna, head of education at Glasgow City Council, for investigation.

One parent said: “To swear so extensively is unacceptable for someone who teaches young people and who is expected to set an example to them.”

A council spokeswoman said: “A complaint has been received about inappropriate tweets that are against the council’s employee code of conduct and an investigation is currently taking place.”

The non-denominational school is part of the Whitehill Campus, along with Golfhill Primary School and Westercraigs Nursery in the city.
