Eatery set to close earlier than planned

-

CARLUCCIO’S in Glasgow City Centre is set to close its doors earlier than planned.

The West Nile Street eatery had been earmarked for closure at the end of the year.

However, the company said it’s been forced to shut this weekend “due to circumstances beyond our control”.

A spokeswoman for Carluccio’s said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, and at the landlord’s request, Carluccio’s Glasgow will close earlier than planned.

“The restaurant had been earmarked to close at the end of the year, post the Group entering a CVA [Company Voluntary Arrangement], due to unsustainable rents and rising business costs, but will now close on October 1.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Glasgow team for their passion and commitment. We will be working with them very closely over the coming days to give them the best possible support through this transition.

“Staff will be offered the opportunity to relocate to other stores but, where this isn’t viable, we will provide additional assistance in terms of unlocking our contacts, talking with other hospitality providers and helping with CVs and applications in order to help them find work elsewhere.”

“We thank every member of our team for their hard work along with all our loyal customers who have supported their local Carluccio’s over the years,” she added.

The closure is the latest blow to hit Glasgow’s food scene this year. The city has said goodbye to Cau steakhouse on Miller Street, The Sisters in Jordanhill, Prezzo, Prep Fitness Kitchen, EAT, M&S Food on Bothwell Street and Byron.
