Fans call for leadership at Tannadice

-

DUNDEE United fans have called on the club’s board to show “some real leadership and direction” and restore “togetherness” at Tannadice in the wake of Csaba Laszlo’s sacking.

The former Hearts manager was axed on Sunday in the wake of the previous day’s 5-1 hammering at home to Ross County.

Enraged supporters had called for the removal of Laszlo (pictured) long before the full-time whistle sounded and the club has been left searching for a fourth manager in just three years.

Ex-Hearts and MK Dons boss Robbie Neilson is regarded as the favourite for the post, along with former Dunfermline and Ross County manager Jim McIntyre.

However, interim head coach Laurie Ellis is expected to be given an opportunity to stake a claim for the role in the long-term.

One fans’ group, the Dundee United Supporters’ Federation has claimed the spotlight will now fall on chairman Mike Martin and his board as they seek to make the right appointment.

A statement from the federation said: “The Dundee United board now need to act quickly to properly select and recruit a manager who will command the respect of the players and fans.

“The board must install a sense of togetherness at the club.

“The support of the fans has been fantastic over the turbulent past couple of years. However, that should not be taken for granted.

“United fans are renowned for their loyalty and we are crying out for some real leadership and direction from our board of directors.”
