Lord Provost to lead St Andrew’s Day parade

-

GLASGOW’S Lord Provost has been announced as the patrol of the St Andrew’s Day Torchlight Parade.

Tickets for the parade will be going on sale today.

As part of the West End Festival, the parade will be taking place on November 30 and is open and accessible to all.

The event is supported by Scotland’s Winter Festivals, Glasgow City Council and Byres Road and Lanes BID.

The Lord Provost Councillor Eva Bolander said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to be Patron of this lovely event that signals the start of our festive celebrations – shining a light in the darkness.

“It’s also wonderful to celebrate St Andrew’s Day with Fair Saturday and the unique and positive cultural experiences it offers.”

The evening celebration of Scotland’s patron saint will take the form of a torchlight parade passing through the main parts of the west end using a rolling road closure.

Michael Dale, festival director, said: “We’re delighted that the West End Festival has once again received support through the Scotland’s Winter Festivals programme to be part of this winter’s activity in Scotland.

“Building on previous year, we want even more people to take part in the parade and we’d be thrilled if the streets were lined with people cheering us on.”
