THE SSE Scottish Music Awards have added to their biggest line-up yet.

Organisers confirmed yesterday that Mark Knopfler, Amy Macdonald, Kyle Falconer and The Snuts are all set to perform at the glitzy ceremony at Glasgow’s SEC.

The stars will join the previously-announced Snow Patrol and Tom Grennan, with more still to be revealed.

The awards will celebrate their 20th year on December 1, honouring the biggest and best in Scottish music while raising vital funds for Nordoff Robbins Scotland.

Some of the most legendary figures in music have received prestigious awards over the years, including Paolo Nutini, Emeli Sandé, Twin Atlantic, Travis and Deacon Blue. This year’s star-studded ceremony reflect on a strong year for Scotland and also on the music and artists who have been the soundtrack of the nation for the past two decades.

Singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald, one of Scotland’s top success stories, won the Best Newcomer award at the SMAs in 2007, after storming onto the scene with single Mr Rock n Roll. Her performance at the SSE Scottish Music Awards, 11 years since she first appeared at the event, will “truly be a moment to remember,” said organisers.

Speaking of winning Best Newcomer, Amy said: “I had just started on my first album and getting that award was a landmark for me.

“To have that kind of support at home meant a lot and still does.

“The event is also a fundraiser for Nordoff Robbins which, a fantastic charity and one I’m always happy to support. They use music to make such a difference to the lives of people who find it very difficult to communicate in other ways and that’s something I can really relate to as a musician.

“It’s always a very special night full of great music and will raise even more money to help people this year.”
