Braehead is named top of the shops in Scotland
INTU Braehead has beaten Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre to be declared the best in Scotland.
Only five Scottish shop destinations made the cut for the list of the top 50 shopping centres across the UK.
The Renfrewshire site came top in 14th place, while East Kilbride Shopping Centre, Livingston’s The Centre, Silverburn and Clyde Shopping Centre in Clydebank followed – ranking 19th, 20th, 23rd and 50th respectively.
Intu scored highly across the board, with a total of eight of its centres throughout the UK, including the Trafford Centre, Metrocentre and Merry Hill.
Celebrating the news, the centre said: “We are honoured to be listed as Scotland’s top shopping destination by GlobalData Retail.
“Make sure you pop in and see what all the fuss is about.”
And Clydebank’s Clyde Shopping Centre was also excited to be included in the list, coming in fifth in Scotland.
Andrew Forrester, centre manager at Clyde, said “We are delighted with this result which puts us ahead of Glasgow city centre shopping centres.”

GlobalData carried out research into the “requirements of tenants and shoppers” to determine who would make the top spot.
The firm surveyed a total of 5,000 shoppers while carrying analytical data on each venue’s performance, potential and provision.
Joseph Robinson, retail consulting director at GlobalData, said: ‘‘The top three shopping centres are located in London and the South East.
“But geographically, the top 20 rankings paints a picture of excellent shopping centre provision across the UK.’’
First place went to the Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush, following by Westfield Stratford City and Bluewater.
