Sizzling Sinclair could be back to old self after starring in semi-final show

CONFIDENCE is everything in football.

When you feel good about yourself then you’ll try anything on a pitch. Nothing seems impossible.

If I was going through a confident phase, I’d fancy myself to score a goal in every game. That’s how footballers work.

In Brendan Rodgers’ first Treble season, Scott Sinclair believed he could beat any defender and every shot, no matter distance or angle, was going to fly into the top corner.

Scott is a talent but will admit himself that he’s not shown the form of that campaign for some time now.

I hope Sunday is a turning point because he had a huge influence on the win over Hearts when he came on during the first-half.

The truly great players, and Henrik Larsson was one for the club, show great consistency. Henrik was brilliant all the time.

Scott would not have wanted to be known as a one-season wonder. All of us who were and are fortunate enough to play for this incredible club want to go down as a great Celtic player and to do that, consistency is a must.

Scott is an honest guy and will know he has struggled this season, and for parts of last season even if he did score goals and provided plenty of assists.

That’s why he was out the team, a big difference from being Brendan Rodgers’ first pick. And the thing is when you are dropped, you lose confidence, and that is hardly going to help you get back into the starting XI.

Brendan has been patient with Scott, he’s stuck by him a lot and was rewarded at Murrayfield because I thought the lad was terrific when he got on.

He was dropping his shoulder, getting past his man, looking to shot in the bottom corner, a trait from two seasons ago, and showed speed, skill and ability.

Also, it took a lot of guts for a player who has not been at his best to step up and score the penalty.

Let’s now see if we see the real Scott Sinclair from now on.
