MOTHERWELL

- BY LINDSAY HERRON

CHRIS CADDEN, a glaring example of the excellent youth system at Motherwell, is tipping David Turnbull to be the next kid for fame, insisting the midfielder can go all the way to the top of the game.

Turnbull grabbed his first senior goal on Wednesday night as Motherwell claimed three massive points in a highly impressive 2-0 victory over St Mirren.

However, it was his poise and confidence in the heat of midfield that was most impressive and Cadden, who scored the other goal, feels there is so much more to come.

Indeed, he is suggesting that

Scot Gemmill should seriously consider selecting Turnbull for the Scotland under-21 squad.

Cadden (inset) said: “I’m delighted for him. He’s a great kid and he’s been waiting for his chance patiently for so long and for him to come in and score was brilliant.

“What a player he is – he’s definitely one for the future. He’s a very good player. He’s different from me.

“If he puts performances in like that then there’s no reason why Scot Gemmill won’t look at him.

“He’s a great boy and for me he can go and play for the 21s no problem. He’s only had two starts so we’re not getting carried away, but he’s a good guy. “I think he’s a great player. He shows it at training. His game is good all round.

“Every time he gets the ball he looks as if he’s got more time than he does. He makes the game look so easy and does the simple things so well.

“He rarely misses the target with a shot and he’s got that ability with his right foot to score goals. He’s a good technical player.”

Motherwell’s win on Wednesday hoisted them up to eighth and they pull further away from bottom dogs Dundee by beating them at Fir Park tomorrow.

Cadden said: “It was a massive game in what is a big week for us and we’ve done the first part right.

“I thought the boys were brilliant. There was a lot of pressure on us on Tuesday, but the boys delivered.

“We’ve been putting in performances, but we’ve maybe not had the rub of the green and wee things have gone against us, but everything clicked for us on Tuesday.

“I thought we were magnificent
