their 2-0 win over St Mirren and then followed that by scoring a spectacular 30-yard strike as they defeated Dundee 1-0 on Saturday.

Robinson has been delighted with the progress Turnbull has made since stepping up to the first-team squad and hopes he will soon commit his future to his boyhood club.

Robinson said: “Of course, we’d like to get David signed up, very much so.

“David is one we’ve earmarked for a while. He’s been training with me since the start of the season. His agent wanted him to go out on loan but I said no.

“He’s still right at the very start of his career and we’ve got to remember that but he’s had a brilliant impact.

“He’s someone we want to keep developing and we are currently speaking to David and we hope to get him tied down, as we did do with Allan Campbell and Chris Cadden early on.

“We reward people when they are doing well. David has come in and made an instant impact.

“We want to keep his feet on the ground, make sure he keeps developing and I believe this is the right place for him to do that. “I genuinely believe there is not better club in the country to develop him with the coaching staff we have.” Robinson knows some players can leave too soon but insists if anyone comes in for Turnbull they will have to dig deep for a player that’s been with Motherwell since he was nine years old.

He said: “David’s Motherwell through and through and that helps.

“All the young boys we have in the team are and they have a real identity with the club.”
