Holt: Menga will learn from tough love

Hoops forward insists he’s the most patriotic Scot at

LIVINGSTON manager Gary Holt admits he does not need to tell off Dolly Menga for picking up a two-game ban, as the striker is already disappointed to be missing out on next weekend’s clash at Rangers.

The Angola internationalist was handed a retrospective suspension by the Scottish FA after being caught on camera moving his head into Ryan Christie’s during last weekend’s goal-less draw with Celtic.

Menga, who joined from Blackpool during the summer, will now have to sit out next Saturday’s trip to Ibrox and the visit of Motherwell the following weekend.

Holt is adamant that the flashpoint is a one-off and insists the 25-yearold is kicking himself at not being able to have the chance to replicate his scoring feat against Steven Gerrard’s side after netting the winner in September’s memorable match. Holt said: “I know it will be an isolated incident because we’ve never seen it before.

“It’s one of those things, it happens – he has been given a ban and we move on.

“He’s taken it on the chin, he is a nice lad.

“We have to educate him in the right way of reacting to situations.

“The disappointing thing for Dolly is that he would have been going to Ibrox in front of 50,000 and it would have been a chance for him to showcase his talents, but he won’t have that.

“That’s something that he will have to deal with, it’s tough love sometimes.

“He’ll sit there and think about it. It’s disappointing for him and it’s disappointing for us. We’re not the only club that’s been done retrospectively. We agree with it and move on.”
