Alarm for brides after wedding firm goes silent

AN events business opened by the former employee of a bridal business owner has left customers locked out.

Something Blue, on Howard Street, was opened in 2017 by the manager of Happy Talks after the 20-year-old firm closed overnight.

Lynn Glasgow vowed to help heartbroken brides who had weddings booked with the firm and worked without pay for the last seven months before starting on her own.

However, more than a year later, clients are worried she too may have let them down ahead of their big day.

The shop, self described as specialising in ‘weddings, parties and corporate events’, has been put up for let, while the website has been deactivated and the phone lines cut off.

A number of wedding decorations, including tables, centre-pieces and glasses have been left behind still on display but the shutters have been permanently closed on the business.

One shocked bride-to-be said she had been trying to get a hold of Ms Glasgow for weeks to no avail after she agreed to organise special touches for her wedding including centre pieces, flowers and big initials. A number of emails, phone calls and letters to the shop have gone unanswered, leaving the customer out of pocket.

Ms Glasgow opened the business after being left to clean up the mess created by Michelle McMorris, 43, and Alistair McMorris, 43.

McMorris told suppliers she had cancer, continued to take payments from brides and neglected to pay staff in the weeks leading up to the families’ disappearance and shock shop closure. The Evening Times has made attempts to contact Something Blue and Ms Glasgow.
