Robbo vows to make most of return to top

-

LIVINGSTON midfielder Scott Robinson admits he is determined to make the most of his time back in the top-flight having experienced a roller-coaster career that has taken him from Anfield to Albion Rovers.

Only 18 months ago the former Hearts and Kilmarnock player turned out for East Fife in front of only 419 supporters in a defeat at Cliftonhill.

Those surroundings are a far cry from what he will face on Saturday when he lines up for the Lions at Ibrox hoping to replicate September’s shock win against Steven Gerrard’s team.

One of the highlights of Robinson’s career came against Gerrard’s Liverpool side when he was part of the Hearts squad that earned a 1-1 draw at Anfield in a Europa League clash six years ago.

And having taken in the world of part-time football, the 26-year-old is grateful for what he now has. Robinson said: “I’m loving it and being a full-time footballer is all you can ask for really.

“I had a hard time with injuries and had to drop down to part-time but I always said to myself if I could keep fit and do the right things then I could get back there.

“Thankfully that’s what’s happened with Livingston and I couldn’t ask for a better club.”

Robinson was an unused substitute at Anfield on the night David Templeton’s strike gave Gerrard and his team-mates a fright.

The English Premier League side progressed in the competition after a Luis Suarez goal snatched a late draw.

And Robinson admits watching Gerrard in the flesh was a dream come true. He added: “Gerrard was one of my heroes growing up. He’s doing a good job at Rangers but hopefully we can dent that on Saturday.”
