Thousands watch Style Mile Carnival
THOUSANDS of people lined the streets of Glasgow city centre yesterday to watch the Style Mile Carnival wind its way through the city centre.
This year’s fairytale theme brought an element of magic to the event, which has become one of the most popular in the city’s festive calendar.
The parade featured dozens of groups who provided thrilling costumes, enchanting acts and festive performances along the route.
Hundreds of performers took part in the display, which was one of a number of events this winter held as part of the Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign, showcasing the best the city has to offer.
After leaving St Enoch Square at around 2.30pm, the procession made its way along the city streets before closing at George Square alongside the newlyopened Christmas market.
This year the market will host more than 50 stalls, as well as carnival rides and a 15-foot tree.
The annual event welcomed prominent figures from across Glasgow, including Lord Provost Eva Bolander who called the parade “a firm family favourite that generates great excitement”.
She was joined by eight-yearold Caleb Miller and his family at the carnival. Caleb is raising funds for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
Meanwhile, groups such as the City Centre Retail Association, Glasgow City Council, and major retail partners were all involved in the day’s organisation.
