Top tourism talent is honoured at awards bash
TOURISM talent in the city of Glasgow has been recognised at the country’s most prestigious tourism awards.
Two business took home coveted prizes at the Scottish Thistle Awards regional finals at the Orna Mor on Thursday.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum was named Best Visitor Attraction. As Scotland’s most visited free attraction, it was praised by judges for its modern approach to promoting a traditional attraction.
With 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying an astonishing 8000 objects, the collections are extensive, wide-ranging and internationally-significant.
Elsewhere, Celtic Connections Festival received the award for Best Cultural Event or Festival. The winter festival attracts more than 130,000 visitors over 18 days and is a wellestablished fixture on the Scottish music scene.
The festival was commended by judges for its excellent programme which consistently expands into new areas, new venues and audiences.
