Lowe looks at Ibrox victory as season changer

-

MAX LOWE is confident he and Aberdeen can use their showings against the Old Firm as the foundations upon which to build for the rest of the campaign.

Derek McInnes’s side were left with nothing to show for their efforts on Sunday as Celtic lifted the Betfred Cup after a tightly contested Hampden final.

But there was a reason to celebrate for the Dons on Wednesday night as they recorded a famous 1-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox.

Lowe was an impressive performer against the Light Blues as Scott McKenna netted the only goal of the game after just seven minutes.

And the on-loan fullback is pleased with the progress he and the Reds are making as attentions turn to their weekend clash with St Johnstone.

Lowe said: “After being here a couple of weeks, I felt like I’d improved my game. The gaffer took me to one side and told me the things I needed to improve defensively – I still need to improve in the air.

“He will take me aside in training and do one-v-one stuff. Each game, I’m picking up and learning things as I go on.

“Rangers and Celtic are great teams and I’m happy we’ve been able to keep them quiet. Hopefully I can do that for as long as I stay.

“With the games in hand, we’re really confident. The final we lost, but everyone said we played really well.

“Hopefully we can kick on and make a run of it. We’ve had a tough week of away games so hopefully this can serve us well.

“It could be a season-changer; we can deal with anyone in this league.”
