Keeper warns McGregor: You’ll never have it as good as at Parkhead

dismiss that elsewhere.

“I have been lucky enough to play in the English Premier League [at Sunderland] and be part of different clubs and different dressing rooms – and now to be part of something as special as this, you do not get it very often.

“I do not think anybody has ever been in a hurry to leave. There are so many and look different things that can happen in a career, but for us to be in this moment here, and part of this club at this special time there will not be much better out there in terms of how good this feel. How much money could compensate for that? I would suggest it has to be an awful lot.

“It is the place to be at the moment. It is a great club doing great things and playing so well.”

Gordon couldn’t put a pricetag on the 25-year-old McGregor, who is playing the best football of his life.

The midfielder’s performances are certain to attract attention but any suitor would have to break the Scottish transfer record to have any chance of landing him.

Gordon said: “For what Callum has already achieved and the talent he has he has shown he can perform at the top level against some of the best teams in Europe, a club would not be taking a gamble.

“Certainly, in terms of goals and how important he is to this team, it would be very difficult to put a price on it. It would have to be a very big price for someone to come in and prise him away because of the importance he has to the team.”

Gordon had the chance 18 months ago of moving to Chelsea but chose to stay at a club where he is happy and winning trophies.

He said: “It is that good an atmosphere here. It is very difficult to find that I am coming towards the end and have found something for me that’s fantastic at this moment in time.

“Callum is much younger and still has a lot of his career ahead of him.”
