SINCLAIR SINKS DONS IN SEVEN-GOAL BOUT

McGregor keen to see new signings after seven-goal thriller in Aberdeen

- BY ALISON McCONNELL AT PITTODRIE

CELTIC midfielder Callum McGregor has welcomed the prospect of new arrivals as the club head into the January transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers has been clear about his wish to add two forwards to the squad as well as a right-back and Celtic have insisted that there will be business done when the window opens after what was a frustrating summer.

Timothy Weah is one that the Parkhead side have been in talks with over a loan deal with the 18-year-old PSG forward set to leave France in January.

“I think you always welcome that as a player,” said

McGregor.

“It gives everyone a lift and it gives you that little bit of competition in the squad as well. It is up to the manager what he wants to do and there is obviously a lot that goes on but for us as players it comes down to putting out the best team that we can.” McGregor, meanwhile, believes the Parkhead side have the players capable of getting a victory on Saturday afternoon as they head to Ibrox for the final game of the year.

The 25-year-old helped Celtic maintain their

position at the top of the table yesterday at Pittodrie as Brendan Rodgers’ side won 4-3, a result that means they go into the game against Rangers with a three-point lead and a game in hand.

“We have shown that we have the players who can rise to the occasion and we have a lot of players in there who relish the challenge of the big games,” said McGregor. “Every game is a big game when you are at Celtic but being able to finish off the year by going out at the top of the table and on the back of some good performances would be ideal.

“It has been a pretty big month for us with so many key games.

“We have have been used to that over recent seasons and so many of them at this stage seem to have so much at stake.”
