KENT KEEN TO SEAL NEW IBROX DEAL

On-loan Liverpool winger open to making switch to Ibrox permanently

- BY CHRIS JACK

RYAN KENT inspired Rangers to a famous Old Firm win over Celtic and admitted he would be open to extending his stay at Ibrox beyond the end of the season.

The winger moved north of the border on loan from Liverpool in the summer and quickly became an integral part of Steven Gerrard’s side in the Premiership and Europa League.

But he produced his finest performance of the campaign so far on Saturday as the Light Blues moved level on points with their title rivals at the top of the table. Now the 22-year-old could look to remain at Ibrox after revelling in a thrilling derby victory that ended Rangers’ long wait for a win over their Old Firm rivals. He said: “It’s something I’m considering. It’s a chat Rangers are going to have to have with Liverpool

referee John Beaton, while there were another two instances in which Morelos was involved in during the game that went unspotted by the whistler.

At one stage he seemed to rake his studs down the back of a grounded Anthony Ralston while he was also caught taking aim at Ryan Christie, both of which were missed by Beaton during the 90 minutes.

Morelos took to social media to post a photograph of himself with Ralston in some discomfort behind him but he could find himself facing retrospective action from Whyte if the compliance officer decides there was a case to answer that was not spotted during the 1-0 win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s quest for reinforcements has is set to intensify as the January transfer window opens.

The first addition of the year looks set to be Timothy Weah (aboce) with the teenager set to formalise his six-month loan to Glasgow in the coming days. The PSG forward, son of Ballon d’Or winner George, has viewed Lennoxtown with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirming that he liked what he saw.

The Parkhead side have also been linked with a move for Ivory Coast internationalist Vakoun Issouf Bayo. The 21-year-old, who has netted 14 goals in 25 appearances this term, is playing with Slovakian side Dunajska Streda but is available for around £1.75million, while Southampton teenager Jonathan Afolabi has also been linked with the club.

Calvin Miller has had his loan spell with Dundee cut short with the full-back headed to Dubai with the rest of the squad.
