Hitman Vanecek ready to Czech in at Tynecastle

-

NEW Hearts striker David Vanecek admits he is relishing his switch to Tynecastle after bidding an emotional farewell to FK Teplice.

The marksman has revealed that he will fly into Scotland on Sunday after initially agreeing a pre-contract with Craig Levein’s side last July.

Vanecek joins having scored seven goals in 16 Fortuna Liga matches in the Czech top-flight during the first half of the campaign, following on from the 12 he notched last term.

The 27-year-old’s arrival is likely to coincide with the return of fellow marksman Uche Ikpeazu from a foot problem and both players are expected to be available for Hearts’ first match after the winter break in a Scottish Cup visit of Livingston on January 20.

Vanecek took to social media to thank Teplice and express his excitement about the next chapter of his career.

He said: “Happy New Year. My mission in a new jersey will start on January 6, when I will come to Scotland. I am looking forward to [seeing] you, Jambos!

“It’s three years from the moment I became a part of this traditional Czech club in Teplice.

“I experienced a lot of beautiful and worse moments, but every time I felt at home. I fought in every game and I delivered everything that was in me for this club.

“I was lucky to have great support from the fans, club management, coaches and first of all team-mates, thanks to which I have given so many goals and together won so many matches.”
