ADAM ANGLING FOR A RANGERS RETURN

- BY GRAEME McGARRY

CHARLIE ADAM admits that he would love to return to Rangers as he issued a come-and-get-me plea to clubs in Scotland.

The midfielder has fallen out of favour at Stoke City, making just three league appearances for the English Championship club this season.

The 33-year-old has been told he is free to find a new club during the transfer window but, so far, he has had no contact from anyone despite the likes of Hearts, Dundee and St Mirren being credited with an interest.

And the midfielder hopes that clubs in Scotland aren’t being put off by any perception over his wage demands, as he insisted that his

prime motivation is getting back to playing regularly.

“It’s not about the money,” Adam said. “It’s about coming and playing and enjoying it.

“Stoke won’t be the issue. They understand where I am, and I know where they are at.

“Everybody is going to presume that Rangers is the one for me, but I’ve had no contact. Everybody knows that if it came around it would interest me because it’s a big club.

“But that’s as far as it goes, we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. Would it interest me? Absolutely, and that’s as far as I would say.”

Adam played alongside current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard when the pair were at Anfield, but he is not sure whether that could be a factor that could work in his favour in terms of a potential move back to Ibrox.

“I don’t know because I’ve not had any contact,” he said.

“I don’t know what they’re thinking or where they’re at.

“I know he [Steven Gerrard] is on holiday at the moment enjoying the winter break but whatever happens, do I see Rangers being an option? I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen.

“If anything comes up then we’ll have to sit down as a family and make a decision on where I go.”
