Derek Johnstone Kent deal would be no-brainer if Liverpool aren’t keen

RYAN KENT might be a young kid who has had a few different experiences on loan in recent years but he has certainly been terrific for Rangers.

And he is someone that, if a deal could be done with Liverpool, I am sure the manager and the supporters would love to have at Ibrox beyond the end of the season.

The only bit of his game he really has to improve on, as Steven Gerrard has said, is scoring goals. If he could put away more chances, then what a player he could be.

He is still a young man and that could well come. It would be an excellent bit of business for Rangers if they can keep him longer term and allow him to flourish at Ibrox.

He has got so much to offer. He has got great energy, real pace and he loves taking players on, which the punters will always appreciate.

Supporters want players that get them off their seats and Kent is someone who does that when he gets on the ball and he gets at defenders. He is an exciting talent and that potential won’t have gone unnoticed away from Ibrox as well.

Liverpool might see what we are seeing and decide he is one for the future so they might not want to lose him permanently and a loan might be the best Rangers can do.

But they will ask the question. Then it comes down to the player himself and whether he wants to come here again or move on and try something new.

I would think that Ryan has really enjoyed his time here so far. He is working under a manager he knows, he has played in big European games and he was terrific in the Old Firm win a few weeks ago.

Every player played well that day, but Ryan thrived against Celtic and he saw plenty of the ball. He did so well for the goal to beat Mikael Lustig and then slip it to Ryan Jack.

Ryan will have seen what that victory meant to the fans and the club so he knows what Rangers are all about. It is a big decision to then leave all that behind.

All Rangers can do is ask the question and see where all parties stand on the matter and hopefully a deal can be done.
