Man, 19, stabbed over mess in flat

-

A KNIFE thug who repeatedly stabbed a teenager who made a mess in his bathroom has been jailed for four years.

Darren Hill, 26, attacked Matthew Gallagher at his home in Shettleston.

Hill was locked up at the High Court in Glasgow after he pleaded guilty to knifing his 19 year-old victim.

The teenager had been at Hill’s flat with another man last September.

Prosecutor Bill McVicar said there was later “some sort of dispute” between the men, who were not previously known to each other.

Hill then grabbed a kitchen knife, held down the victim and repeatedly struck him.

Mr Gallagher escaped, but slumped on the street outside.

He required surgery and a blood transfusion after being seriously injured.

The hearing was told Hill had been “lead to believe” that Mr Gallagher was responsible for leaving his bathroom dirty.

Jim Wallace, defending, said: “Darren Hill took exception to this and asked him to leave the flat. An argument then ensued.”

The court heard Mr Gallagher was also spotted with a knife that night and that Hill was acting under provocation.

Mr Wallace: “He has expressed remorse for the injuries that he caused.”

Hill pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Gallagher to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life.
