MPS will vote this evening on Theresa May’s deal for leaving the EU.

She is expected to lose the vote as Labour, SNP and LibDem MPs and many of her own party set to reject it.

If she loses she has three days to return with another plan but it could lead to a number of different possibilities.

Having survived a vote of no confidence from Tory Eurosceptics last month, which would have removed her as Prime Minister, Mrs May is facing another threat to her Premiership.

Mrs May could resign as Prime Minister defeat.

Alternatively she could face a no confidence motion in her government in the House of Commons, if Labour decide to call one. The SNP has already said it would back Labour if Jeremy Corbyn takes this course of action.

If the Prime minister lost that see an early General Election.

Mrs May has tried to win her own MPs round by warning the only choice is between her deal or no deal.

However, the campaign for a second if she suffers a very heavy it could referendum has gained momentum and MPs in the Commons could call for Article 50 to be withdrawn until a second vote is held, which could see Britain remain in the EU after all.

Or, the Prime Minister wins the vote and her deal gets parliamentary approval, Britain leaves the EU on March 29 and Theresa May remains as Prime Minister.

She has already agreed she will not lead the Tories into the next General election so it would then be a matter for her to choose when she leaves Ten Downing Street.
