Murray content if epic Agut battle is last match as he considers surgery

ANDY MURRAY will decide in the next week whether to have a second hip operation but said he would be content if his dramatic five-set defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut at the Australian Open turned out to be his final profession­al match.

Murray, who announced on Friday that he is planning to retire from the game this year, threatened a miracle in Melbourne but was beaten 6-4 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-7 (4) 6-2 by the Spanish 22nd seed.

DEDRYCK BOYATA is set to stay at Celtic for the rest of the season – even if it means the Belgian is likely to leave for nothing in the summer.

The 28-year-old central defender has given no indication that he will agree a new deal with the Scottish champions, who could cash in on the player before the January transfer window closes.

Boyata endured a below-par game at Ibrox last month but maintains the confidence of Brendan Rodgers. The Celtic manager revealed that nothing had changed in terms of the Belgium internatio­nalist’s long and shortterm future. Rodgers said: “Dedryck will just stay calm and see out the season and then see where he’s at. There will be interest in him, of course, but nothing concrete at the moment.
