Headliners announced for SAMA

A PROGRAMME of live showcases, music workshops and industry seminars has been lined up for Renfrewshi­re’s the Scottish Alternativ­e Music Awards (SAMAs).

The event shall return deliver another two-day showcase celebratin­g Scottish music, including music business seminars and workshops across multiple Paisley venues.

This year the top billing will see the dreamscape stylings of Mercury Prize nominee C Duncan join alternativ­e folk singer Kathryn Joseph perform at Paisley Arts Centre and Sweaty Palms headline newly-added venue The Bungalow.

Joseph, has already attracted a legion of new fans after her performanc­e on Netflix hit Outlaw King starring Chris Pine.

The festival will be held March 15 and 16 with headliners selected from Scotland’s alternativ­e music scene.

Richy Muirhead, SAMA founder is praying for good weather after events last year were cancelled because of poor weather conditions.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be bringing the festival back – the town and people of Paisley really love their music so this style of event makes so much sense.

“Last year the festival was sadly disrupted by extreme weather issues, so we’re delighted to return with a bigger line-up and offering – we’re hosting an event in the newly renovated venue The Bungalow, and inviting more artists and music industry guests to Paisley. Roll on March.”

The full programme for the two-day event will be announced on January 22.
