Don’t just swap masters

-

EVERY time I see her picture (Nicola Sturgeon: Scotland will be independent in five years, February 11) or yet another story about SNP`s `independence’ claims I have to take a deep breath and often go make a coffee before I read the story to calm down.

Now, I have no problem with an independent Scotland per se, but I still, after all these years, fail to see the logic of “throwing off the shackles of London” only to see them be replaced by the ones from Brussels.

How much will membership of the EU cost Scotland? No-one knows, or at least no-one will say.

What will we get for the billions it will most likely cost us?

What will we get for rights for the EU to fish Scottish waters?

If we are to be independent then let’s be independent. Don’t take power away from England to hand it over to the EU, that is NOT independence. That is swapping one master for another.

And just for the record I voted Yes for Independence and Yes to leaving the EU.

Now it would be No to Independence and Yes to leaving the EU.

The EU is possibly the most corrupt organisation outwith FIFA and UEFA.

The EU has never had its books audited and signed off, yet so many people think it’s a great thing to be part of.

That’s both baffling and frightening.
