A MAN has been left seriously injured after being attacked by a gang in his car.

The 32-year-old victim was chased and assaulted by a group of teenagers after fleeing his vehicle.

A MAN has been left seriously injured after a terrifying “unprovoked” gang attack in an affluent suburb.

The 32-year-old was inside his car, a white Audi, on Hill Avenue in Newton Mearns, when a man opened his passenger door and seriously assaulted him around 2.30am on Saturday.

The attack caused the man to hit the accelerator pedal and collide with a parked car.

He then left his car to run for help but was pursued by his attacker and three other men.

The chase carried on down Hill Avenue where he was assaulted again.

A motorist stopped to assist the injured man, causing the suspects to flee the scene.

Emergency services attend and the victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

The suspects are described as male, white, between 16 and 18 years of age.

Three were wearing dark coloured-hooded tracksuits and one was wearing a grey hooded top and dark coloured tracksuit trousers.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and are gathering CCTV images from around the area for any additional information it could provide.

Detective Constable Joseph Keith said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and a man has sustained serious injuries.

“I appreciate the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning but it’s possible someone saw or heard something.

“Perhaps someone saw the four men hanging around Hill Avenue and thought nothing of it at the time, however, in light of this crime, any information could prove vital and I would urge people to get in touch with us.

“Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at the Robbery Unit, Helen Street Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0487 of Saturday 2 March 2019. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
