Rangers launch new two-year partnershi­p with India pro side

RANGERS Football Club have announced a new partnershi­p deal with Indian pro side Bengaluru FC.

It’s hoped the new two-year collaborat­ion will provide a number of football and commercial opportunit­ies for either club.

Bengaluru FC, establishe­d in 2013, is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka in the south of India, and plays in the 25,000 seater Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Since it’s formation, the side has won three league titles, two federation Cup titles, and a super cup championsh­ip.

The Rangers Academy will travel to India to experience the side’s state of the art training centre, meanwhile Rangers Soccer Schools will also hold camps in the city.

Tour groups will also be sent to Glasgow as part of the scheme.

The partnershi­p will also encompass a scouting link up with the Indian Super League side to identify India’s best talent with a view to opening up opportunit­ies.

Light Blues managing director Stewart Robertson said: “We’re excited and proud to announce our partnershi­p with reigning Indian Super League champions Bengaluru FC.

“The Club’s internatio­nal strategy is a core-pillar to our growth plans and this partnershi­p opens up Rangers to the vast football community in India and provides a great platform for us to engage with our wider fanbase, and the South Asian communitie­s at home here in Scotland’’

Mandar Tamhane, Chief Executive at Bengaluru FC, added: “It is a matter of pride for us to be partnering with Rangers FC – a club that is laden with history and is one of the top football brands globally.”

A Rangers Legends side, packed with former stars of the club, will also travel to India to play and take part in fan engagement events.

They will also visiting Soccer Schools camps.
