Starstruck diners spot Beckham at trendy city seafood restaurant

- BY JACK AITCHISON

IT MIGHT not be the first thing you expect as you tuck into seafood in Glasgow.

Lucky punters at the city’s Crabshakk were left stunned after recognising a celebrity in their midst – David Beckham.

Fans were delighted after spotting the footballing legend at the trendy Finnieston restaurant on Argyle Street yesterday.

The 44-year-old was snapped up by staff at the restaurant, who looked more than pleased with their VIP guest.

They posted on Facebook: “We get lots of very special customers through our door, but some Wednesdays someone particularly lovely joins us for lunch.

“Thanks for your visit @ davidbeckham and have a wonderful time in Scotland!”

And it appears that the Manchester United hero had a great time.

He shared images of his selection of seafood dishes to his 58.5 million followers on Instagram, before posing with beaming diners and staff.

He said that the scallops were “cooked to perfection”, the rollmops reminded him “of my nan” and he also had a hefty portion of fish and chips with tartar sauce.

Almost 1000 people liked the restaurant’s social media post in just over two hours.

One jealous Facebook user joked: “Nice muscles… and great food too!”

Another said: “Why couldn’t he have been in on Sunday when I was there?!”

However it’s not the only place the dad-of-four was spending time in Scotland.

He was in Leven on Tuesday to plug the Haig Club whisky – of which he is a brand partner.

Photos on his Instagram story, captioned: “Great to be back up in Scotland with the team”, showed Beckham getting his hands dirty in amongst the whisky barrels.

He was also thought to be in Ashton Lane in Glasgow’s West End that night.
