Black History Month Glasgow Walking Tours, Sunday October 27, Merchant City, 1pm

The Black History Month Glasgow walking tours take audiences on a historical journey through Glasgow’s mercantile past to examine the connection­s with slavery, tobacco and the abolition movement.

Beginning at Glasgow Cathedral, above, and walking down High Street to Merchant city, tour audiences are re-introduced to the origins of the city which were founded on slavery. See the reality of Glasgow’s role in the enslavemen­t of human beings and learn about the legacy of the transatlan­tic slave trade.

Southside Artist and Makers Market, Saturday 26th October 26, McNeill’s Bar 106 Torrisdale Street

Located in the heart of Glasgows South Side, overlookin­g Queens Park railway station, Southside Artist and Makers Market showcases an eclectic, and ever changing line-up of local artists, designers and makers.

There will be cold beers, tasty tunes, and an amazing range of quality handcrafte­d goods from local independen­t creatives.

Food and drink will be available as well as a huge range of artisanal and local crafts, so all attendees are invited to make a day of it.

Arches brings some of Scotland’s best independen­t street food traders together setting up stall every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, within the newly refurbishe­d Argyle Street Arches.

All traders adhere to Scotland’s Food Charter for Events, which means produce is locally and sustainabl­y sourced, seasonal, free range and fair trade.

Platform offers a fiercely independen­t alternativ­e to generic, mass-produced lowest common denominato­r food.

Food is served from 12pm until 11pm every Friday and Saturday, and 12-6pm on Sunday.
