Major new acts announced for TRNSMT festival

- BY HAMISH MORRISON

MORE acts have been announced for the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow Green this July.

Amy MacDonald will be performing on the final night of the festival, setting the mood for Lewis Capaldi’s closing set.

Scottish acts rule the roost on Sunday, with East End boy Joesef also performing for his first time at the festival.

Declan Welsh spoke about his excitement for his homecoming Saturday slot.

He said: “I’m buzzing for TRNSMT. I grew up 5 minutes away from Glasgow Green, now I’m playing there. Mad. If the King Tut’s show is anything to go by, the Tut’s stage will be bouncing.”

Glasgow bands are making their mark on the festival too, with The Ninth Wave bringing their unique brand of noise pop to the park on Friday, fresh off a tour of Europe and the US.

Spyres were only formed at the beginning of last year and in June will play a Saturday slot on the Green.

They said playing the festival in their hometown was a “huge deal” for them.

Saint PHNX have just released their first album and said they were “buzzing” to be performing to a home crowd.

Rapper AJ Tracey and American emo legends Jimmy Eat World will share Saturday’s stage with Foals, Keane, Twin Atlantic and Liam Gallagher – and local lads Rascalton are getting things going early on.

Tickets for the Glasgow Green festival are on sale now and Sunday tickets are already sold out.

Last year 150,000 people flocked to the city centre park to see their favourites.
