Derek Mackay won’t face charges after messages scandal involving 16-year-old schoolboy

I look forward to hearing about him resigning as an MSP. He needs to go from public life. Derek Campbell

Personally I’m of the opinion that his behaviour was inappropriate. In Scotland we probably need to look at amendments to the Age of Legal Capacity (Scotland) Act 1991 and the Children (Scotland) Act 1995. At age 16 you are in many circumstances legally considered a responsible adult. You can vote, marry, join the forces and enter into legally binding contracts, just to name a few. I think there are many situations in which a naive 16-year-old could be taken advantage of. Kevin Ross

Why cops are causing Valentine’s Day heartbreak for housebreakers in Govanhill

It’s been a while since there’s been a police crackdown of any sort. This latest one appears to be the police doing what they are paid for – ie guard watch, patrolling, detecting offenders, etc... but this time they had to blow the big trumpet.

Letters: Indy should not be main issue in next year’s vote

The SNP Government should stop banging on all the time about independence and how much they love the EU, and get on with the day job. And sort out Scotland’s problems – stop blaming Boris for all of them. They have been in power for the last 13 years. Boris has been PM for seven months. Johnny Connelly
