Manhunt after fight inside McDonald’s

- BY JACK HAUGH

COPS have launched a manhunt for a gang of thugs who battered two men in Glasgow. The victims, aged 23 and 25, were rushed to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary after being set upon in Jamaica Street at around 1am on Saturday.

Police say the first man suffered facial injuries and damage to his teeth after he was attacked when trying to diffuse an argument between four men inside McDonald’s.

The disturbance continued to outside Currys PC World, also in Jamaica Street, where the other victim was pounced on by the men.

He also suffered facial injuries in the attack.

The injured pair escaped their attackers in the nearby Euro Hostel, in Clyde Street, before police were called. They were both taken to the hospital but have since been released.

Cops have issued descriptions of the four men.

The first is described as white, aged 16 or 17, 5ft 11ins, with short brown hair and wearing a dark blue jumper and black jeans.

A second is also white, with ginger hair, wearing a yellow jacket and black jeans.

The third is white, aged 20-30, 6ft 1ins, slim build, with dark coloured hair, and wearing a black tracksuit.

A fourth is a tall, stocky male, who was dressed in a hooded jacket which covered his face.

The brutes were also in the company of a woman who did not get involved in the incident. There is no description of her at this time.

Constable Paul Hendry at Stewart Street CID said: “I know that Jamaica Street was busy at the time this disturbance took place and therefore I’m certain that there would have been many people who witnessed the two men being assaulted.

“I urge anyone who witnessed the assaults or anyone who recognises the descriptions of the suspects to contact police at Glasgow City Centre, Stewart Street, via telephone number 101.”
