Public to vote on new Irn-Bru range

- BY JACK HAUGH

IT’S known as Scotland’s other national drink and has been the perfect hangover cure for generations. Now, Irn-Bru fanatics are being asked to vote on the launch of two new flavours for its XTRA range.

Facebook followers of the iconic Scottish drink are being urged to get behind their favourite ‘Clan’ and choose between tropical, ice cream, marshmallow and candy floss flavours in the battle of the bottles.

The flavour feud vote starts today with the two most popular Clans winning the battle and going into production.

Fans can get behind their favourite Clan on the IRNBRU Facebook page by using emojis to vote for different

flavours before the two new flavours of the summer go into production at AG Barr’s factory in Cumbernauld.

The vote will close at midnight tomorrow.

The brand released a teaser video yesterday featuring the Clan flavours going headto-head in battle using palm trees and ice cream cones instead of swords and shields, and marshmallows instead of helmets.

Adrian Troy, AG Barr Head of Marketing, said: “We know that IRN-RBU XTRA is a total knockout but we wanted to

give BRU fans an XTRA treat this summer with two new phenomenal flavours.

“We’re bringing a whole new flavour sensation to the market and these new IRN-BRU summer limited edition flavours really do need to be tried to be believed.

Whether you’re Clan Tropical, Ice Cream, Marshmallow or Candy Floss, the two winning flavours will be something totally new for BRU fans to enjoy.”

It’s not the first time bosses at Irn-Bru have launched special edition flavours.

In 2011, AG Barr’s launched ‘Fiery Irn-Bru,’ a spiced version of the soft drink designed to give an extra kick with two secret ingredients, rumoured to be chilli and ginger.

And just last year, limited edition ‘IRN-BRU 1901’ hit shelves in December with makers AG Barr stating the drink was made the oldfashioned way, using an ‘old and unimproved’ IRNBRU recipe first created way back when BRU was born in 1901.
