Guardiola’s mother dies from Covid-19
PEP Guardiola’s mother has died after contracting coronavirus, Manchester City have announced.
City said Dolors Sala Carrio passed away at the age of 82 in Manresa, Barcelona.
“Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends,” a club statement read.
City boss Guardiola, who is one of four siblings, last month donated 1m euro (£918,000 at the time) to aid the fight against coronavirus in Spain, having returned to his home country during the ongoing Premier League shutdown.
A STREAMING service has written to the Premier League to defer payments due to the suspension of competition.
DAZN, which holds rights to stream all English top-flight matches in Brazil, Canada, Japan and Spain, is in negotiations to halt payments until clarity is given as to when and how the 2019-20 season can be completed, it has been reported.
The league announced last Friday that there was no prospect of professional football returning by the start of May, and was instead keeping a decision on when the game could safely come back amid the coronavirus pandemic under constant review.
TOTTENHAM forward Son Heung-min will start his mandatory four-week national service in his native South Korea this month, the Premier League club have announced.
Son travelled back to his homeland because of the coronavirus and is currently in a two-week quarantine. Now that football is on hold indefinitely, Son will complete his obligatory military service as required by law in South Korea.
