‘If they can’t stop 10 they’ll go down as worst ever’

- GRAEME McGARRY

FORMER Celtic favourite Mikael Lustig believes that all of the pressure is on Rangers next season to stop Celtic winning 10 in a row, because they will go down as the worst side in Ibrox history if they fail to do so.

Lustig says that one of the main differences between the two squads is the relentless will to win that exists within the Celtic dressing room, and he thinks that will again make the difference as the champions look to make history next term.

“This is why I think Celtic have been so good over the last couple of years,” Lustig said. “We’re not satisfied; we want more all the time.

“The fans really want us to win every trophy there is and that’s why we’re so good. [Ten in a row] is going to be a lot of pressure for sure. To be honest I think there’s going to be more pressure on the Rangers players. If they’re not going to win next year, they’re probably going to go down as the worst team ever in their history.”

Lustig, now with Belgian side Gent, thinks that manager Neil Lennon is the perfect man to lead Celtic as they chase that 10th consecutive title, having matured from his first spell in charge of the club.

“[Neil Lennon] has been brilliant,” he said. “He came in at a really tough period.

“I think he’s learned a lot over the last couple of years as well. He seems more relaxed than he was in first couple of years. [He’s a] top manager and I’m really happy for him.”
