Chop chop... city salon sets date for reopening
A WEST End hairdresser has said the business is prepared to safely re-open.
Ellen Conlin on Hyndland Road has set a provisional date of June 30 for admitting clients, although this will be “subject to change”. In response, the Scottish Government said the situation remains that hairdressers will not be permitted to re-open until phase three of the route map out of lockdown. Details of phase two are due to be unveiled on June 18.
Hairdressers operating in England have been given a possible re-opening date of July 4.
A statement on Ellen Conlin’s website states: “The latest government update suggests that we may be able to open at the end of the month. We are keeping very close communications with the Hairdressing Council and the National Hairdressing & Beauty Federation who speak directly with the government.
“We can’t wait to welcome all our clients back to the salon, but there’s going to be some changes to the way we do things, and we want you to know that we have the safety and wellbeing of both our staff and customers as our priority.
“We will open from 9.30am-730pm, Tuesday-Friday and 9am-6pm on a Saturday in an effort to accommodate everyone. Both clients and staff will be issued with PPE and two-metre Social Distancing will be carried out in the salon at all times.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Government said: “The route map states that hairdressers will be permitted to open in Phase 3, providing adequate distancing and hygiene measures are in place. At the current time, hairdressers should remain closed.”
