Glasgow Times ‘People have a public duty’: Litter louts slammed as waste overflows Kelvingrove bins

Hit the litter louts hard and fine them £100 for first offence and doubling every time they are caught doing it again.

If they can’t pay – make them do days picking up litter and street sweeping!

Some even leave litter on park benches and bus stop seats when bins are right next to them.

We need Environmental Wardens for this!

What are all the furloughed council office staff doing anyway?

The office pen pushers could be out picking up this litter also. The councils will need all the money they can lay their hands on and it shouldn’t be a case of raising the top tax bands again – this is no longer acceptable and I doubt if many of the people in these properties drop this litter. While acknowledging people could take the rubbish with them, you need to ask where are all the Glasgow City Council binmen?

To suggest there is a lack of manpower during the Covid crisis is false and misleading as Glasgow City Council employees have been maintaining areas of grassland throughout the city that could be left as “wild meadows” thus freeing them to empty these bins.

One would suggest it’s another “Toy town” power struggle between SNP, Labour, city officers and unions. William Smith

There’s not enough bins in Kelvingrove Park. They took away loads of them and let a couple of massive bins.

This is not enough to cope with the amount of rubbish generated by park-users who are making the most of the warm weather.
