Ex-soldier jailed for possession of heroin
Man is accused of spitting on cops at station
A FORMER soldier who served in Afghanistan has been jailed for two years after being caught with a knife and 45 bags of heroin.
Shaun Cumming, 30, was stopped by police at 4am on Westerhouse Road, Easterhouse in February
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard a seven inch “kitchen knife with a red handle and blade” was found in his car.
During a search of the vehicle police recovered 45 bags of heroin weighing 89.96 grams in total.
Prosecutor Mark Allan gave the individual totals which amounted £1820 overall.
Cumming, who was on bail for separate matters, was arrested and charged before being held in custody.
He pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of a knife and supplying heroin.
Ian Sievwright said: “He is someone who served his country in the infantry from when he was 17 between 2008 and 2013.
“During that time he was involved in active combat and did two tours of Afghanistan.
“He has to leave the military due to complex PTSD and has since developed a drug addiction.
“This was an offence that was to fund his heroin addiction.”
Sheriff Paul Crozier told the dad-of-one that he met the custodial threshold despite a limited record.
He added: “These are serious matters which you committed while on a number of bail orders.”
A SUSPECT has been accused of spitting on two officers at a police station during lockdown.
Stanislaw Rzadkiewicz allegedly assaulted PC Gregory Fulton and PC Matthew Lloyd in the South Side of Glasgow in April.
The 36-year-old is said to have exposed the pair to risk of serious infection while the officers where in execution of their duties.
Prosecutors claim PC Fulton was also kicked on the body by Rzadkiewicz in the city centre’s West Regent Street that day.
Rzadkiewicz allegedly behaved in an abusive and threatening manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence.
It is said the Polish national kicked parked vehicles and is charged with damaging a Ford Fiesta.
Rzadkiewicz pleaded not guilty yesterday from the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
A new hearing was set for August by Sheriff Paul Crozier, who remanded Rzadkiewicz in custody in the meantime.
