Personal trainer holding online workout to

A GLASGOW Club personal trainer will be holding an online workout tomorrow to raise money for two charities.

Scott Marshall, 29, is inviting people of all ages and fitness abilities to join him for the live online charity workout.

The money raised will be split between the Rangers Charity Foundation and its national partner, Children 1st: Scotland’s National

Children’s Charity, which provides lifeline support to children and their families.

Scott, who lives in Abbeyhill Street in the city’s East End, wanted to organise his own fundraisin­g event after hearing how both charities have been massively affected by the cancellati­on and postponeme­nt of fundraisin­g events.

He said: “Both charities do amazing work and I wanted to give something back to help them during the coronaviru­s lockdown.

“I know it’s a difficult time for many families just now and that a lot of them will be struggling as a result of the coronaviru­s pandemic.

“But both of these charities are doing incredible work to support families right now.”

Scott, who was furloughed from his job as a personal trainer at the Glasgow Club Scotstoun, has been offering free online workout sessions to help people with their mental and physical health during lockdown.

It was through those sessions that Scott got chatting to Gary Kernahan, who is the director of fundraisin­g at Children 1st.

After hearing from Gary about the incredible work that the charity is doing to support children and families, Scott decided to organise an online fundraisin­g workout.

Scott said: “During lockdown I got talking to Gary and I came up with this idea to run an online workout.

“He mentioned that Children 1st

“That’s not always possible because not everything is available through local independen­t stores but if they can even do a percentage of their shopping with local independen­t stores that will make a huge difference.”

Mr Ahmed added that online shopping boomed when the lockdown started – but decreased when England started to reopen shops because of the increased competitio­n online.
