Cafe owner can light up room with her smile

-

FOR me, Lynn Benzie is what being Scottish is all about (‘It’s been a hard fight’: Newlands cafe The Slated Teapot talk about the impact of coronavirus on business, Wednesday).

What a lovely, generous and caring person she is, with a smile to light up a room. All the best Lynn and wish you every success that is coming your way.

THAT fence illustrates everything about Scottish councils; they look after nothing because they say they cannot afford the maintenance but they have more high-paid managers than actual workers (Mum fears ‘horrific’ school fence will hurt child, Tuesday).

This fence was in a mess long before Covid but they attempt to use it as the reason.

IT’S not like the fence is going to attack you or shout abuse at you.

Parents should educate their children not to play with dangerous things. Or is that expecting too much?

IS it just a coincidence that we started getting a spike in cases about 10 days after making masks compulsory (Sturgeon: We all have a duty to stick to the health guidelines? Wednesday). Finlay Gilchrist

IT’S the public who are responsible for each other (Sturgeon’s warning after 73 cases in four days, Glasgow Times online).

Wearing a mask over your mouth but not your nose is worthless as is the attitude of some businesses who don’t challenge members of the public who won’t wear a mask nor adhere to social distance rules because they will accept anything as long as the tills are ringing.

I WAS surprised that when I was on a bus for the first time in ages no-one was using hand sanitiser as they were just before lockdown.

I THOUGHT Nicola Sturgeon’s tone yesterday was poor. She suggested people were letting their guard down. Sadly she has this ability to talk down to the public. Mixed messages don’t help either. You can’t open an optician’s fully but you can get drunk in a pub.
