Pay hike should be automatic for our NHS Everyone who stepped up during the lockdown should get a payrise

-

ICAN’T believe the NHS and care workers are having to demonstrate to get a pay rise (More than 60,000 frontline NHS and health workers will protest for an equal pay rise. Do you think they should get one? Glasgow Times Facebook).

This should have been done automatically by the British Government after caring and saving so many lives during this difficult time, putting their own lives at risk.

HONESTLY, this makes my blood boil. They have saved so many lives.

The Goverment is all wrong. Imagine the staff all walked out and went on strike.

There would be no more lives saved.

The Goverment needs kicked up the backside.

They should be the highest paid workers for what they do. It makes me angry.

EVERYONE who worked during lockdown should receive a one-off payment.

They all put their lives at risk – look at the number of taxi /bus drivers who died!

EVERYONE who stepped up during the lockdown should get a payrise.

Nurses, cleaners, porters, care workers, shop assistants, binmen funeral directors and many more.

These people put their lives and their loved ones’ lives at risk to save your life. I’ll be at Glasgow Green supporting the nurses but I’ll be supporting everyone else who gave selflessly through this troubled time too.

I NOTE the current SNP administration keeps highlighting the good work of cycling lanes and extending pavements to help reduce the risk of Covid-19.

Are they blind to the drug dealing and homelessness, flytipped material and littered masks everywhere, potholes in the middle of the roads, street lamps out and graffiti needing removed?

Who wants to walk down a street with an extended pavement or ride a bike on a new cycle lane if there is a risk or a crime of someone being mugged or attacked?

Name and address supplied

I AM a retired lorry driver (aged 89), and I collect anything to do with road transport, since I was 16 years old.

I am trying to get in touch with any old lorry drivers in your area regarding old Scottish transport firms.
