- BY STACEY MULLEN

HEARTBROKEN families have continued to pay tribute to loved-ones that they have tragically lost to coronavirus. The Glasgow Times asked readers to get in touch to tell us about family members they lost during the pandemic.

With restrictions on funerals at the start of lockdown preventing families the opportunity to say a proper goodbye to their loved one, the Glasgow Times is offering those relatives a chance to pay tribute in our newspaper.

Jenna McMillan has told us how her dad Alexander died at just 63-years-old after a battle with coronavirus. The retired taxi driver died quickly after testing positive for Covid 19.

He passed away in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary on April 4.

Jenna said: “My dad died within less than 48 hours of testing positive for Covid 19.

“It was very fast and people shocked.”

The Dennistoun man’s daughter added: “Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t stop me to say sorry for your loss.

“My dad will be missed by many people as he seemed to know everyone and always had a cheeky joke or saying to make people laugh.

“He was a top grandad, the best you could get.

“He done everything grandchildren Sophia William.”

The heartbroken family of Tommy Simpson from the Gorbals area of Glasgow have also paid tribute following his death from coronavirus.

Tommy died aged 84 on April 7 in Rannoch Lodge Care Home in Glasgow.

During his life, Tommy worked at Dark Grains and Diageo at Port Dundas.

His devastated daughter Elaine Urquhart said in her tribute: “Darling dad and papa, sorry we left many for his and weren’t with you when you passed.

“I still can’t believe you are up in heaven.

“You were the best dad and papa, and we miss and love you so much. Rest in peace.”

She added: “Dear God I gratefully thank you for giving me dad, you must really love us because you gave the best you had.

“Watch over him and bless him lord, and keep him in your prayer, love you so much.

“Elaine, John and Martin; Tracy and Stephen; Chrissie, Don and Cathy and all your friends.”
