City MP to hold his surgeries in train stations

- BY STACEY MULLEN

A GLASGOW politician will hold his surgeries at train stations this week.

David Linden, MP for Glasgow East, said he will be out and about at train stations in his constituency on Monday and Tuesday – and urged commuters to approach him with issues.

The unconventional move has been taken because regular surgeries have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, he will be at Easterhouse at 7.30am, Garrowhill at 8am, Shettleston at 8.30am and Carntyne.

On Tuesday, he will be at Baillieston at 7.30am, Mount Vernon at 8am and Carmyle at 8.30am.

He said: “Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus restrictions, all of my other regular surgeries are currently postponed. Hopefully these outdoor, socially distanced train station surgeries will provide an alternative.”

He added: “If none of these suits but you would still like to speak with me, please contact my office on 0141 778 1777 or by e-mail to david.linden.mp@parliament. uk.

We previously reported that Mr Linden had put himself in the shoes of his constituents by trying out their jobs for the day.

The politician has pulled pints at the Tavern Bar in Tollcross, put himself on the frontline with firefighters at Easterhouse and helped traffic cops catch speeding drivers near schools in Greenfield as part of the initiative.

He has held the intiative for a number of years in the constituency in a bid to get to know the people he represents in parliament.

Mr Linden has served as a MP for Glasgow East since 2017.
