BEST FRIEND Rogic under offer with manager keen to keep him

NEIL LENNON has confirmed Celtic have received an enquiry about playmaker Tom Rogic – but stressed he would like to keep the Australian at Parkhead.

Rogic, who has struggled to get a regular start ahead of Ryan Christie since Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers as manager last year, hasn’t played any games this season.

But Lennon is an admirer of the 27-year-old, whose late goal in the 2017 Scottish Cup final clinched the treble, and would be content if he remained in Glasgow.

“A club has made an enquiry, but that’s about the long and short of it,” he said. “There’s nothing more to say, really. I admire Tom. He’s a brilliant player. I think he’s a top-quality player and would like to have him around the place.

“I’m not aware of any other interest in any other players. We’ve had an enquiry for Tom and that’s been it really and no other calls regarding any other players up until now.

“There’s going to be speculation and rumours, but I don’t take notice of it. just concentrate on the day-to-day running of the first-team squad and obviously the games that lie ahead for us.”

Meanwhile, Lennon dismissed the prospects of Leigh Griffiths, who is currently sidelined with an injury, going out on loan.

“At the moment, he’s not fit,” he said. “He’s got a calf strain and needs to get fit and back into training. Putting him out on loan is not in my thinking or in any of my priorities at the minute.”

Lennon has been linked with Ireland defender Shane Duffy of Brighton, but admitted he is no nearer to adding to his squad.

“Nick [director of football operations Hammond] and his team have been working away,” he said. “We have daily contact and it’s a process that takes a bit of time.”
